About this block

Year Over Year Shift Table turns a benchmark update into a narrative. Every headline metric gets a row with last year, this year, a signed change chip, and a one line read on the most likely cause. The chip carries an up or down arrow so the direction lands before the reader parses the number.

Built on ui/badge for the change chips and a plain table that scrolls sideways on small screens. The rows array is the publication surface, each entry pairs the two values with a delta and a plain language reason, so the reader gets the what and the why on the same line.

When to use

Reach for this block when you publish a benchmark every year and the movement is the story. A plain numbers table shows the values, this one shows what changed and offers a reason for each shift.

A natural flow around it on a Marketing Pro page:

Before

• Benchmark table laying out the full current year figures

After

• Key findings pulling out the shifts that matter most
• CTAs for readers ready to act on the trend

What you can display

One strong use is email engagement metrics against the prior year. Other comparisons:

• Pricing benchmarks. List prices this year versus last, with the reason for each move.
• Adoption metrics. Feature usage year over year, with a note on what drove it.
• Support KPIs. Resolution and satisfaction shifts, with the cause behind each.

Tip: write the reason column as a claim you can defend, a stated cause is what makes a shift quotable.
