Membership Upsell Math puts the perks of joining on one side and a full checkout receipt on the other, and the receipt admits that joining costs more today before it shows where the plan pays off. The perks list names the discount, the free shipping, and the early access, while the receipt lines out the subtotal, the member discount, the waived shipping, and the membership fee.
The perks and the receipt rows are two arrays, and the summary block states plainly when the membership goes ahead and how much it saves after that. Both the join button and the stay a guest button carry equal weight, so a once a year shopper is never cornered into the plan.
