About this block

North Star Metric Card is one hero card for the single number an org steers by: weekly active workspaces at 1,284, +2.6% vs last week, a 12 point inline SVG sparkline spanning Mar 23 to Jun 8, and a versioned definition printed in the card, v3 since Apr 6, 2026. The definition reads: a workspace counts as active after 3 meaningful events in a rolling 7 days; meaningful events are document edits, API calls, and member invites; page views do not count.

The sparkline is decorative by design, a fixed 12 point polyline at stroke-foreground/40. The definition block is the unusual part; north star metrics drift when the definition lives only in a slide deck.

What you can display

One strong use is the product north star metric review. Other hero metric cards:

• Weekly active users. The consumer equivalent with a definition that excludes bot and internal accounts.
• Net revenue retention. One number with the cohort window and expansion vs churn method stated inline.
• Activation rate. Trials reaching the aha moment, with the aha moment definition versioned and dated.

Tip: printing the definition version and date inside the card is what makes the metric auditable when someone asks why the number changed last quarter.
