About this block

Booking Calendar puts my whole half year on one screen: a heading that reads the next six months, month by month, a short intro, and a strip of six month cells running Jul through Dec 2026. Each cell carries its month, year, a status dot, a booked, open, or closed label, and a one line note saying exactly what is happening that month. Below the strip sits a legend explaining the three statuses and a Book the October slot button linking to a mailto.

The months and legend are two separate arrays. The per month note is the distinctive detail; instead of a vague soon or limited availability, each cell says something concrete like one project slot available from the 5th or studio closed for the holidays.

When to use

Reach for this block as the availability section on a freelance portfolio homepage or a dedicated hire page when you want to show planned capacity rather than a single yes or no. The installer updates the six months, their statuses, the notes, the legend hints, and the mailto to match a real booking calendar, refreshed at the start of each month.

What you can display

One strong use is the six month status strip with per month notes. Other calendar layouts:

• Twelve month view. Extend the array to a full year for studios that book long lead projects well in advance.
• Quarter bands. Group the cells into three month bands with a single status each for a coarser planning picture.
• Rate note per month. Add a short line to open months naming the day rate that applies to that window.

Tip: keep every note concrete and dated; a cell that says one slot from the 5th earns far more trust than a soft maybe, and it filters the timing question before it lands.
