Loyalty Not Points Explainer explains the absence of a points program in two numbered rows: points are a liability ledger wearing a gift bow, and breakage is the business model, with the 25 to 30% non-redemption assumption stated plainly and the conclusion named directly: “A program that performs best when you forget it exists is not loyalty, it is a bet against your memory.” Below those rows a second ruled list names what exists instead: the flat 10% member discount with no tiers, repairs at bench cost forever, and trade in credit that carries no expiry. The footer names the spine shared with the why-no-coupon-field and why-no-birthday-club siblings: if a benefit needs you to track it before it pays out, it was designed not to pay out.
Reasons are one array, the instead alternatives a second array. The losing-program math is the whole block’s credibility, the rest is the replacement.
Reach for this block on the membership or loyalty FAQ page alongside the membership math explainer. The 25 to 30% breakage figure should be sourced from a published industry reference or stated as an industry estimate.

One strong use is the two-reason takedown plus three replacement alternatives. Other explainers:
Tip: naming the specific breakage percentage (25 to 30%) converts the critique from opinion to arithmetic, which is what earns the reader’s trust before the replacement list appears.
