About this block

Shipping Delay Banner is a slim border-b band that dates the disruption ("Carrier strike, June 12"), quantifies it ("about 2 days behind this week"), and scopes it honestly ("Express uses a different carrier and is unaffected"). A details link and a dismiss button sit at the far end.

No data array needed, the message is a single composed paragraph. The honest scope is the whole point: telling buyers which service is unaffected prevents unnecessary upgrades and unnecessary complaints.

When to use

Reach for this block at the very top of any page during an active carrier disruption, directly above the store navbar. Wire the dismiss to localStorage so the band stays gone for the session; remove it server side once the disruption clears.

A natural flow around it on an Ecommerce Pro page:

Before

• Store navbar

After

• Store hero
• Product grid

What you can display

One strong use is the carrier strike scope. Other shipping disruptions:

• Weather hold. The depot city, the affected postcodes, the estimated resumption date.
• Port delay. The inbound container late, which product lines, the revised restock window.
• Rate change. Carrier surcharge active from a date, the flat amount, express unaffected.

Tip: naming express as unaffected does more work than any reassurance line because it gives the buyer a real path forward, not just an apology.
