Featured Essay gives one piece the full stage: a Placeholder beside a title, a pull-quote excerpt (Clarity is not a writing virtue. It is a product decision, and someone has to own it), and a detail list that names the publication (A List Apart), the date (March 2025), the read time (6 min read), the topic, and the intended audience. A Read the full essay link closes the right column.
A single essay object and a details array drive the block. The detail list is the balance mechanism for the split layout rule: it gives the text column enough rows to sit level with the Placeholder without padding or filler.
Reach for this block as a homepage spotlight on the strongest piece, or as the lead of a case-study-style project page for a long-form essay. The installer swaps the essay object, the five detail rows, and the href, and replaces the Placeholder with a cover image or a pull illustration.
A natural flow around it on a Portfolio Pro page:

Tip: the detail list earns its place only if the rows are real; placeholder values like Topic: Writing read as unfinished work.
