Category Tiles organises a photography portfolio into four genre tiles, Portrait, Landscape, Street, and Studio, each a Placeholder image with the genre name and an image count: 31 images under Street, 12 under Studio. A short descriptor appears on hover inside a semi-transparent overlay, people, expression, available light, without obscuring the tile at rest.
Categories are one array with genre, count, and note fields. The hover overlay uses opacity transition rather than a permanent overlay so the thumbnails read cleanly in the grid and the descriptor only shows when a visitor actively explores.
Reach for this block as the entry point to a multi-genre photography portfolio, either on a homepage or at the top of a work section. The installer swaps the four genre names, counts, and descriptor lines to reflect their actual practice.

Tip: the image count is the most honest signal in the tile; a genre with two images should not be a tile, it should be a footnote in another section.
