Photo Grid

About this block

Photo Grid is the clean browseable face of a photography portfolio: nine square frames in a three-column grid, each captioned with a location, date, and subject line on hover. The copy spans two years of travel work, from Reykjavik in March 2025 down to Seville in October 2023, all shot on film and scanned at home.

Photos are one array of Placeholder tiles with a static hover overlay. The hover caption carries the where and when so every frame identifies itself without cluttering the grid at rest.

When to use

Reach for this block as the main gallery section on a photography portfolio or the selected prints page of a studio site. The installer swaps the Placeholder tiles for real scans and updates the location, date, and subject for each frame.

What you can display

One strong use is the travel photography grid. Other grids:

• Studio work grid. Product or portrait sessions in square crops, captioned with client type and date.
• Series grid. All nine frames from one trip or project, the grid becoming the album view.
• Mixed discipline. Photography and illustration side by side when both carry the same square crop.

Tip: the hover caption does the curatorial work; a subject line that names what is in the frame beats a generic title.
