Waitlist Hero Count opens a prelaunch site with the queue as the proof. The pitch and email form follow hero conventions, and the count line beneath does the double work, 4,218 waiting says demand, 60 let in last week says the line actually moves. The fairness clause in the lede, no exceptions for follower counts, is its own small positioning.
The faces and count are an avatar array and a string worth keeping live. The let in last week number matters more than the total, a waitlist that visibly drains converts where a parking lot does not.
Reach for this block as the hero of a waitlist era site, with referral-position-card as the post signup follow up. Honest counts only, the block teaches visitors to check back, and the numbers must move when they do.

Tip: publish the drain rate beside the queue size, motion is what separates a waitlist from a mailing list.
